Well Little P was the surprise of the litter, Lyyli had been x-rayed and no more puppies showed up so at 2 in the afternoon we left the vets for Lyyli and her pups to settle into the warmth and comfort of the whelping box, so it was to my total amazement when at 10.30pm I went to make a coffee and left them for no more than 5 mins to come back to find Lyyli cleaning this tiny little bundle. Despite all the odds being against her, she had been waiting to come out for so long and was so weak but I never give up and everytime she fell asleep feeding a gentle nudge would wake her up and off she'd go again. Her progress was slow but once she was up on her feet there was no stopping her, while the others slept she charged around, into everything and once weaned onto raw minced chicken she took off, gaining weight at a good rate and has turned out to be a lovely little bitch, not without faults but her personality and true Italian working instinct more than makes up for that. She is a very keen worker and loving companion and always happy. She was never meant to stay but here we are 3 years on and she is a part of the furniture!
